The Icon Accreditation is a professional qualification, administered by Icon.聽
Becoming an Accredited Conservator-Restorer (ACR) demonstrates to clients, employers and peers that an individual has an in-depth knowledge of conservation, a high degree of competence, sound judgement and a deep understanding of the principles which underpin their practice, by showing that they are proficient across Icon鈥檚 professional standards in conservation.聽
The Icon Accreditation assessment is a demanding and rigorous process which reflects the high level of competence and professionalism required of conservator-restorers. It is designed to be of an equivalent standard to the assessment processes in other professions, including the chartered professions. It is therefore likely to require a significant investment of time and commitment from applicants to undertake.
Becoming an ACR is hugely worthwhile and offers professional rewards such as public recognition of a high level of ability, sound judgement and an in-depth knowledge of the principles which underpin conservation practice.
We currently have more than 800 ACRs working across the world operating over most conservation disciplines.聽
The Icon Accreditation framework has three components:
An assessment process for accrediting professional capability against explicit standards聽聽
A system for ensuring maintenance and enhancement of professional capability through Continuing Professional Development
A means of removing ACR status from practitioners who fail to maintain a minimum standard of practice and ethics聽
The process is supported by the Pathway which is designed to aid聽members of Icon on their journey to accreditation.聽
